TAHMU stands as one of Western Australia’s largest and most respected veterinary hospitals, closely affiliated with Murdoch University’s esteemed School of Veterinary Medicine. As a vital training ground for veterinarians from around the world, TAHMU plays a crucial role in shaping the future of veterinary care. Recently, TAHMU has expanded its capabilities with the opening of The VetLab, a full-service pathology laboratory to meet the growing demands of veterinary practices across the region. Associate Professor Sue Beetson and Associate Professor Gabriele Rossi, are spearheading the new pathology laboratory.

Our partnership with TAHMU is centred around the integration of Vedi’s technology into The VetLab. This collaboration will significantly enhance the lab's operations, as well as support the hospital’s internal departments to work more efficiently and accurately. Vedi significantly reduces the time and effort in preparing pathology submissions, it also supports patient identification, ER admissions, and health record management and security.

Using Vedi's app, a vet can scan a barcoded blood tube, select the desired tests, and submit the request with just a few taps. This seamless workflow eliminates the need for manual data entry and paperwork, significantly cutting down on human error and saving valuable time.

The VetLab will also provide clinical pathology services to veterinary practices across the state, with Vedi being a core part of the offering to their clients.

“Vedi has become somewhat of a base requirement for pathology submissions in clinics—the alternative being a paper form and writing on a tube,” said Dr Beetson. “For our laboratory, it will enable our teams and pathologists to do their jobs quicker with accurate data at their fingertips.”

This partnership is particularly special for Vedi, as two of our co-founders, Dr. Steve Joslyn and Ross Wyness, are proud alumni of Murdoch University. Their journey has come full circle, as they now have the opportunity to give back to the institution that helped shape their careers. This collaboration with TAHMU is a testament to the shared dedication of both organisations to advancing veterinary care.

Vedi’s technology is more than just a tool—it’s a game-changer for veterinary practices. Each test result processed through The VetLab is securely linked to the pet’s implanted microchip, ensuring that vital health information is always accessible, especially in emergencies or after hours. This feature not only enhances patient care but also provides peace of mind for both veterinarians and pet owners.

As we work closely with TAHMU’s technical teams, the implementation of Vedi is well underway, with a full launch expected in early September 2024. Soon, veterinary clinics across Western Australia will be able to submit their pathology requests to The VetLab using Vedi, transforming the way they work and improving outcomes for the pets they care for.
